Information session on the World Social Forum 2016

Thursday, December 3, 2015 17:30to19:30
Arts Building W-215, 853 rue Sherbrooke Ouest, Montreal, QC, H3A 0G5, CA

For the first time since the World Social Forum (WSF) was established in Brazil in 2001, the global event will be held outside the Global South right here in Montreal August 9-14, 2016. To get a sense of its scale, the WSF 2016 expects between 50,000 and 80,000 people from more than 120 countries and nearly 5,000 local and global civil society organizations to participate collectively in 1,500 workshops, conferences, and arts-based activities over the course of six days.

Beyond the logistics that university partners and supporters can provide the WSF 2016, the larger aim is to build bridges between Montreal鈥檚 francophone and anglophone communities, and between the many other linguistic and cultural communities that call Montreal and Quebec home. The WSF 2016鈥檚 hope is to celebrate this opportunity to host the WSF in Canada together.
