Kevin Crémoux, Joint Honors Political Science and International Development Studies
Kevin will be working with a leading educational NGO known as AID India in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He has always viewed education as a fundamental institution for development and social progress, and therefore is very excited to work with students and teachers in a developing country to better understand how we can promote education for all. At ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ, Kevin is heavily involved with Model United Nations and the International Relation’s Student’s Association of ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ.

Pierre Gugenheim, Honours Political Science
Pierre is a third-year student pursuing an honours degree in political science. He will be interning with the Center for Democratic Development, in Accra, Ghana. CDD is a think-tank working on electoral observance, policy consulting, and democratic development. Pierre’s motivation stems from the Ghanaian determination to lead by example, on the road to solid democracies. He is resolute to be a lively contributor to the internship, at the crossroads of his interests.

Zachary Nanji, International Development Studies
Zachary is a first year student majoring in international development studies. He will be interning with the Association for India’s Development, a non-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of education in Chennai, India. His main responsibilities will include researching education programs, generating promotional material, and the creation of teaching resources. He hopes to learn more about the impact of education in developing countriesÌýand gain an insight into the work of NGOs.

Ziqi Wu, Mathematics
Ziqi Wu is an international student from Guangzhou, China. She will be interning this summer with NexChange Hong Kong. She is grateful and excited to have the opportunity to combine what she has learned in her classes with the practice of education in mathematics, thus strengthening her data analyzing and coding skills and enablingÌýfurther study into practical fields about website development and data analysis.

Nicholas Milum, International Development Studies and Environment
Nick is a third-year student studying international development studies, environment, and social entrepreneurship. Originally from Vancouver, he has developed a strong passion for creating sustainable change. That passion led him to apply to be an intern with Credo, a social impact consulting firm. There, he will work on creating a knowledge bank of tools and strategies for improving social impact for businesses to help train new consultants at Credo.

Simone Cambridge, Art History and International Development Studies
Simone is pursuing a double major in art history and international development studies and a minor in geography urban systems. She will be interning with Atelier Céladon, a Montreal community-based organisation that supports pilot and ongoing visual projects, while prioritizing the underrepresented. As Curatorial and Research Coordinator, Simone hopes to take this opportunity to engage with the rich history of Montreal and understand the intersecting connotations and usages of public space through time. She will also be interning with the Under Pressure Festival this summer.Ìý

Malick Issa, Economics and Philosophy
Malick will be entering his last year of studies, majoring in economics and minoring in philosophy. His summer internship will be carried out at Atelier Céladon, a community-based organization seeking to support and represent visual artists. Immersed in Montreal's hyper-artistic scene, Malick has developed a passion for photography and all things creative. In accomplishing his internship, he hopes to gain valuable experience and tools for a path in a creative agency.

Camille Point,ÌýEnglish
Camille is a third-year student pursuing a degree in English and double minors in communication studies and sociology. She will be interning this summer with the Laboratory of Urban Culture located in Montreal’s Quartier D’Innovation. In completing her internship, Camille seeks to expand her knowledge of issues at the intersection of academia, art, and culture and to further discover how this relationship can be applied to fostering connectivity in her local community.

Sophie Theron, Global Nutrition
​Sophie is a third-year student pursuing a major in global nutrition and a minor in ecological agriculture. She will be interning with Suoni Per Il Popolo. This festival is presented by the Société des Arts Libres et Actuels (SALA), a Montreal based non-profit organization. Part of the organization’s mandate is to showcase the relationship between music, sound and cinema, and progressive social and political movements, and to build links between artists and the public. As a student immersed in a program focused on global health sciences and research, Sophie is interested in expanding her understanding of social policy and public engagement with respect to art in order to obtain a more holistic and interdisciplinary approach towards the study of cultural and social behaviours adopted in society.

Camille Preel-Dumas, Political Science and Economics
Camille will be interning at the Inter-American Dialogue this summer, a DC-based think tank on US and Latin American relations. She will be working in their Development & External Relations Program and Office of the President. As a political science major, she hopes to apply her knowledge of Latin American and US relations to an internship at the heart of DC’s public and foreign policy research.Ìý

Mahaut Armand, Economics and International Development Studies
Mahaut is double majoring in economics and international development studies and minoring in social entrepreneurship. As part of her minor, she will be interning at TerraCycle, a company that aims to eliminate waste by providing innovative solutions for hard-to-recycle products and packaging waste. She will work in public relations and will learn about how to run a successful PR campaign, and help spread the word about TerraCycle and their mission in Australia and New Zealand.

Claire Avisar, Anthropology and History
An Ottawa native who feels equally at home in Montreal, Claire is a third-year undergraduate student at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ studying anthropology, history, and English literature. Committed to Human Rights and social justice issues, she strives to connect with communities on both a local and global level. In particular, she is interested in Human Rights as a global intersection for indigenous, social justice, and media movements.

Elizabeth Donison, Anthropology
Elizabeth is pursuing a career in museum archaeology. This summer, she will be the archaeology collections intern at Plimoth Plantation, home of the Wampanoag people and the historic Plymouth Colony. This is a living history museum that teaches the public about the important stories of American history, Native American culture, and the bridge between them. Elizabeth will be working with the artifact collection and developing archaeology-related exhibits and public programs.

Asterix Hassan, Economics and Political Science
Asterix is in third year majoring in economics and political science. He will be partaking in a research project with the Indigenous Movement for Peace Advancement and Conflict Transformation (IMPACT), in Kenya. IMPACT is a policy advocacy and community development organization working to address socio-economic problems among minority groups. This first-hand account presents an opportunity for him to work with Maasai while highlighting their post-colonial land ownership struggle. It will enhance his understanding of Maasai community problems.

Gretel Kahn, Honours International Development
Gretel is an international development student with minors in history and gender, sexuality, and feminist studies. This summer, she will be interning in the Homeland Security section at the U.S. Embassy in Panama. Gretel is excited to work towards the facilitation of U.S.-Panama relations, particularly helping in the enforcement of public security activities such as cyber security, anti-terrorism, and disaster prevention and management.

Sarah Mains, International Development Studies
Sarah will be interning at FINCA Canada, a partner organization of FINCA International, located in Montreal. Their mission is to alleviate poverty through lasting solutions that help people – women in particular – build assets, create jobs, and raise their standard of living. Sarah’s role in the organization will be to contribute to the planning, implementing, and monitoring of financial inclusion projects in Haiti and in the DRC.Ìý

Leah Meyers, Joint Honours Political Science and World Islamic &ÌýMiddle East Studies
Leah will be interning in the Homicide Unit at the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office in downtown Boston. Interested in international security, Leah is highly enthusiastic about addressing contemporary security threats closer to home and at a more domestic level by working in the U.S. legal system. As a prospective law school student, Leah is looking forward to gaining valuable insight into the criminal justice system and the field of law.

Hannah Moore, English
Hannah B. Moore will be interning with The Documentary Group in New York City, a documentary production company. She will be mainly involved in development for potential and ongoing television series. Hannah will enter her final semester in the fall, having majored in cultural studies and minored in world cinemas. She plans to move to New York immediately afterwards to continue her work in documentary filmmaking.Ìý

Nicola Protetch, Anthropology
Nicola is a third-year student pursuing an honours degree in anthropology, with a minor in environment.ÌýShe will be interning at The Stop Food Community Center as an assistant in the urban farm and the daily communal meals.ÌýNicola is very passionate about urban food sovereignty and is interested in using food as a holistic means to reduce socio-economic disparity and create meaningful community space for marginalized populations. She's excited to work with youth and community members at The Stop, located in Tkaronto, Toronto.

Artemis Archimandriti, Political Science
Artemis is a third year student majoring in political science, and pursuing a double minor in economics and philosophy. She will be interning with the Greek Embassy in Ottawa, supervised by the Head of the Greek Mission in Canada. During her internship, she hopes to expand her knowledge on the international, political, historical, and economic relations of Greece and Canada.

Joshua Bentaieb, Political Science
Joshua is a third-year student studying political science with a minor in history. He will be interning with the Canadian Federation of Friends of Museums (CFFM) this summer. The CFFM supports museum volunteers and the museums that rely on them. His role will primarily concern the CFFM’s communications, and through his participationÌýhe hopes to do his part in promoting awareness of Canada’s museums and heritage sites.

Maxine Both, International Development Studies and Political Science
Maxine Both is interning at the Montreal Institute for Genocide and Human Rights Studies, Canada’s leading research institution for human security. As a joint-honours international development and political science (B.A.) graduate and 2018 Guy Drummond Fellow, she is passionate about transitional justice and plans to study human rights law after her MA in political science. She hopes to apply her research skills with a small team and obtain insights into innovative solutions for mass atrocities.

Gillian Cartar, Cognitive Science
Gillian will be interning at Climate Reality Project Canada in Montreal, a charityÌýorganization that seeks to raiseÌýawareness among Canadians aboutÌýthe urgency of climate crisis. She will be working on a project that studies the effectiveness in changing behavior of people who attend CRPC presentations. Gillian recognizes that climate change is a complex issue that requires a multitude of perspectives to advance solutions. She hopes her interdisciplinary skill-set will help her provide insightful ideas to the CRPC team.ÌýÌý

Micheal Chen, Honours Political Science and Psychology
Michael is a third-year student studying honours political science and psychology. This summer he will intern at Climate Reality Canada in Montreal, an organization committed to using innovative and creative methods to engage the public about climate awareness. Michael looks forward to compiling and analyzing environmental data from municipalities across Canada, using this information to communicate the issues facing Canadians, and proposing effective solutions to combat these challenges.

Michelle Hahn-Baker, English
Michelle will be interning at Véhicule Press - aÌýsmall, Montreal-based publishing press that specializes in Canadian fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. She is excited to gain experience in diverse aspects of publishing, from editorial work to managerial and clerical tasks. Michelle is deeply interested in literature’s impact on society and seeks to support diverse, independent artists. She has previously interned with organizations like Penguin Eggs Magazine, CBC/Radio-Canada, and Creative Media Agency Incorporated.

Min Kim, Political Science
Min Kim is a U2 student majoring in political science with a double minor in economics and East Asian cultural studies. She will be a festival intern at Acces Asie, which celebrates Asian heritage month with various arts and performances.ÌýMin has always been interested in working in multicultural festivals. She aims to gain experiences in writing press releases for the festival which will be an essential asset in her career path in journalism and media.

Maia Klee, Anthropology
Maia is a second year student majoring in anthropology and pursuing a double minor in ecology and evolution. She will be interning with The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), a constitutional commission based in Accra, Ghana, whose mission is to promote and protect Human Rights, good governance, democracy and administrative justice for the people of Ghana. Maia will work in public education and anti-corruption, and looks forward to gaining insight into the role of anthropology in Human Rights initiatives.

Kyla Loberg, Geography
Kayla Loberg is an urban systems major, interning with Women in Cities International this summer. WICI is a non-profit network focusing on gender equality and participation of women in urban development. After graduation, Kayla will be pursing a career and masters degree in urban planning, either specializing in sociological inequalities in built environments or climate change adaptation and prevention for cities.

Isis Palay, Environment and International Development Studies
Isis is a U3 French student in environment and development, with a minor and a special interest in anthropology. She will be interning with Himani Nautiyal, a primatology researcher in India. She will help Himani on her current study on Himalayan langurs, a species of primates, as well as on her conservation awareness projects. Teaching young local students about ecologyÌýand collecting data on langur behavior and diet will be her main focus on her 2018 summer internship. While interacting with community members, she hopes to learn more on the local environmental ontology and Indigenous knowledge, to apply these to her conservation strategies in her work with Himani.

Lily Payton, Political Science and International Development Studies
Lily is a second-year student double majoring in political science and international development studies. This summer, she will be interning at Rodriguez Strategies, a boutique public affairs firm in Los Angeles, California. She will be helping public and private sector clients to seek winning solutions to the most complex issues. She is excited to exercise her passion for public policy with a small, tight-knit team in one of America’s most volatile modern political climates.Ìý

Jade Perraud Le Bouter, International Development StudiesÌý
Jade Perraud Le Bouter will be interning with the National Council of NGOs in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania. Jade is a U2 student majoring in international development studies and minoring in political science. She will be working with the NaCoNGO in coordinating and networking all NGOs operating in Tanzania mainland. This internship will be an opportunity to study the impact of policy-making in the field of international development and the role of coordination between governmental and non-governmental actors.

Avery Persaud, International Development Studies and World Religions
Avery will be interning for EQWIP HUBs – an NGO subsidized by Global Affairs Canada, which focuses on improving economic outcomes for youthsÌýaround the world. Avery is determined to mentor and empower youths by providing a safe space for self-expression through leadership workshops, skill development activities, and access to technology.

Alec Regino, Joint Honours Sociology and History
Alec will intern as a journalist and digital marketer at the International Civil Aviation Organization, a UN specialized agency that sets international standards for aviation, security, and environmental protection. Alec is keenly focused on migration issues, immigration, and postcolonial studies. On campus, he is an editor for the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ International Review and the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Journal of Postcolonial Studies, as well as the Mentor Program Coordinator at the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Career Planning Service.

Anna Robine, Psychology
Anna Robine is a U3 student majoring in psychology and minoring in marketing. She will be interning at Grayling, a communications company, this summer. She will be working in the Paris office and will have multiple duties as an intern, including working with clients and Grayling supervisors.Ìý During her time at Grayling, she hopes to get a better understanding of the communications industry, further her social media outreach abilities, as well as participateÌýin community management.

Samuel Singer, Political Science
Samuel is a first-year studentÌýwith an intended major in political science, and a minor in history. He will be interning with the Office of New York City Council Member Keith Powers in the 4th district of Manhattan, which represents ~150,000 people. Their mission is to assist the Councilman in policy-making and to make sure the constituents’ voices are heard. Samuel intends on building his understanding of politics and gain real-world experience in the field.

Naba Tahir, Economics and International Development Studies
Naba is in her second year as a double-major in economics and international development studies. This summer she will be interning at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations (UN) in New York City. The Pakistan Mission to the UN gives Pakistan a voice in political, sustainable, and economic development among the 192 other countries involved in the UN. She is eager to attend meetings and do research for the United Nations, while representing Pakistan.

Francesca Wallace, Honours Political Science
Francesca Wallace is a third year honoursÌýstudent studying political science. Her special interests include international political economy, non-traditional security issues such as terrorism and migration, and international law. Francesca is very active on campus, taking part in the Model United Nations delegation team, Model United Nations conferences, senior editing the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ International Review, and being Vice-President External for the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ chapter of Women in International Security, Canada.

Eliza Snodgrass, Sociology
Eliza will be interning with the Karickam International Public School within the United Religions Initiative in Kerala, India. The URI is the world’s largest grassroots interfaith NGO and works to bring people of different religious, ethnic and cultural backgrounds together to create positive change in their communities. Eliza is excited to work with their peace research institute and learn more about international cooperation.

Abigail Adams-Gospill, International Development Studies
Abby is a second year international development major, doing a double minor in political science and African studies. This summer, she will be interning at Globalbike, an NGO operating out of Moshi, Tanzania, that works to empower women by helping them set up bike repair shops, as well as using bicycles to improve access to education and healthcare. Abby is excited to take this opportunity to work with an organization that places such a strong emphasis on sustainable development as well as local entrepreneurship.

Laurel Stewart, History and East Asian Studies
Laurel will intern with The Charlesworth Group in Beijing, China. The company specialises in academic publishing services and Laurel will be working to support business development initiatives and current marketing outreach. She plans to use the opportunity to improve her Mandarin as well as gain significant professional and cultural experience.

Ariane Lévesque, International Development Studies
Ariane is an international development student passionate about youth and women’s role in development. She will be interning with Fondation Paul Gérin-Lajoie in Porto-Novo, Benin. She will work to promote entrepreneurship, autonomy and empowerment of the local women and youth. Having already worked on an educational project abroad, Ariane is very eager to gain a new experience and deepen her understanding of the current development issues of Benin and West Africa.

Laura Millo, Honours Political Science
Laura is a second-year student with an honours in political science and two minors, one in Islamic/Middle Eastern studies, and another in international development studies. She will be interning with the Consulate General of France in Boston. Her responsibilities will fall under the supervision of the Consul, through the writing of notes, speeches for the consul, but also draft reports, and promoting French diplomacy in the United States.

Teneille Arnott, International Development Studies
Teneille is a third-year student pursuing a major in international development with a double minor in anthropology and history. She will be interning in Kenya, with the South Rift Association of Landowners (SORALO), a partner organization of the Institutional Canopy of Conservation that focuses on livelihoods and sustainable management of natural resources. Teneille hopes to engage with research and traditional ecological knowledge to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of conservation and development.

Emma Assheton-Blair, Political Science
Emma is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a major in political science and a minor in international development studies. This summer, she will be interning with the Indigenous Movement for Peace Advancement and Conflict Transformation (IMPACT), a NGO that works primarily on peace building, governance, land rights, and community development programs among pastoralist communities. Having developed a keen interest in human rights advocacy and policy making during her studies, Emma looks forwardÌýto gaining field experience and participating in IMPACT’s ongoing projects. Her ambition and career goals regard being a part of the work of the nongovernmental organizations, especially in the fields of humanitarian law and development.

Maria Fustic, Honours International Development Studies
Maria will be interning at the Indigenous Peoples of Africa Coordinating Committee (IPACC) In Cape Town, South Africa. IPACC is a network of African Indigenous peoples’ organisations that promotes their Human Rights, gender equality, and participation in environmental conservation and climate justice. Having previously volunteered with Indigenous Quechua populations in Peru, and having been a Research Assistant for Indigenous Literature at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ, Maria is looking forward to furthering her understanding of indigeneity around the world.Ìý

Lavanya Huria, Economics and Statistics
Lavanya Huria is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in economics and statistics. She has a keen interest in the field of development and policy research and is hoping to gain more insight into the academic world of developmental economics. She will be interning in Kianyaga, Kenya, this summer at ELIMU Impact Evaluation Centre, where she will have to opportunity to conduct her own statistical analysis on one of the ongoing controlled randomised experiments at ELIMU.

Pauline Werner, Political Science and Economics
This summer, Pauline will be interning with the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. The WHO's founding belief is that health is fundamental to world peace and security and dependent on successful international cooperation, she is excited to learn how to put this into practice in working with their tuberculosis programme.

Genevieve Malouin, Social Work
Genevieve will have the opportunity to intern in the education sector of the Association for India’s Development (AID) located in Tamil Nadu, Chennai, India. She is honored to be a part of an organization that strives to increase the accessibility and prosperity of children’s education. Additionally, being a future social worker, she is eager to learn how a developing country combats social inequality and uses education as a tool to empower their people.

Kellyane Levac, International Development Studies
Kellyane is in her second year pursuing a major in international development. She will intern as an English instructor for UIN Malang in the Faculty of Sharia, Indonesia, a university offering an international relations program with the mission to provide the best formation as possible for its students and to have a better perspective on international affairs. Having already traveled to Indonesia in the past, Kellyane looks forward to exploring and furthering her interest in the culture, the education system, and the development of the country.

Chidera Ihejirika, Economics
Chidera will be interning at Imaginarium, a media and communications company in Lagos, Nigeria. As a student of economics and African studies, she is highly interested in media and the role media and technological innovation playÌýin the economies of the continent. She is looking forward to learning more about the media and communications industry in Nigeria and believes that the experience will positively influence her future career path.

Momone Ozawa, Sociology
Momone is majoring in sociology and minoring in psychology and social studies of medicine. She will be interning at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Language Center, Jakarta, Indonesia. UIN Jakarta is an Indonesian university which aims to support students pursuing Islamic higher education. At the Language Center, she will create curriculums and teach English language classes for students. In addition, Momone will work closely with the Language Center staff on various tasks at their offices.

Emma Awe, Joint Honours Political Science and History
Emma is a third-year student pursuing a joint honours political science and history degree. She will be interning with the St. Andrew’s Society of Montreal – a charitable society that assists Montreal’s Scottish community in studying, preserving, and celebrating Scottish arts and culture. Emma is excited about this opportunity to intern with the St. Andrew’s Society and develop her historical research skills, as well as her knowledge about Scottish heritage and community in Montreal.

Oscar Beghin, Economics and History
Oscar is entering his final year at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ pursuing a joint honours degree in economics and history. He will be interning with the Delegation of the European Union to Canada in Ottawa. His work will be for the trade and economics section. On the agenda is the promotion of CETA, a trade agreement between Canada and the EU that recently entered into force, as well as preparation for the G7 meetings in the context of Canada’s presidency, and monitoring NAFTA talks.

Suzanne Bonfils, Honours Political Science
Suzanne is a second year student pursuing an honours degree in political science, with a minor concentration in religious studies. She will be interning with Equitas, the International Center for Human Rights Education, an organization providing transformative education programs aiming to promote social justice. Suzanne is very much looking forward to implementing and evaluating educational tools advocating non-discrimination, developing her knowledge of Human Rights, and understanding the inner workings of an NGO.

Holly Cabrera, English Literature
Holly is a third-year student pursuing a major in English literature and minors in translation and Quebec studies. She will be interning at Québec Cinéma, a non-profit organization that promotes Quebec films and artists through the annual Gala Québec Cinéma awards ceremony, the Rendez-vous festival, and educational workshops across Canada. During her internship, Holly hopes to gain an understanding of the role of public relations in the province’s budding film industry.Ìý

Katherine Cuplinskas, Political Science and History
Katherine is a third-year student pursuing a double major in political science and history. She will be interning in the political and public affairs section of the Delegation of the European Union to Canada. The latter is a fully-fledge diplomatic mission which seeks to promote in Canada the positions and policies of the EU. Katherine hopes to take this opportunity to increase her understanding of foreign policy, public diplomacy and EU-Canada relations.

Ariella Garmaise, English Literature and History
Ariella is in her fourth year at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ double majoring in English literature and history. She is also a Managing Editor at the Mcgill Tribune. This summer, she will be the research and communications intern at Canadian Journalists for Free Expression (CJFE). She is eager to apply her journalism and writing experience to explore broader implications of free speech through anti-censorship advocacy.

Nicole Gauvreau, Information Studies
Nicole has just completed her first year of her masters of information studies. She will be interning with the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada Regimental Archives, which contain a wide variety of records and materials related to the history of the Black Watch (RHR) and its personnel. Nicole hopes to use this opportunity to gain experience in and knowledge of small archives and their organizational and research needs.

Hena is a fourth year student pursuing a major in political science and a double minor in English literature and philosophy. She will be interning with Save the Children Canada under their child protection program. She will be working to release an updated mapping of children and work/child labour programmes within the organization. During her time, Hena hopes to gain an enhanced understanding of the framework of NGOs as well as make a significant contribution to the prosperity of Save the Children Canada.

Raegan Kloschinsky, Honours History
Raegan is a third-year student studying history. She will be interning with the 78th Fraser Highlanders, a not for profit historical association in Montreal. The organisation conducts research on the Highland soldiers of the Seven Years’ War in North America, many of who eventually founded the Scottish community in Canada. Raegan is excited to explore the origins and impacts of the Scottish diaspora in Canada and to participate in historical research firsthand.

Jasmine Lee, Political Science
Jasmine is a full-time student finishing her undergraduate degree with a major in political science and a minor in communications studies. She will be interning with the University of Development Studies in Tamale, Ghana, where she will be conducting her own research with the institute. Jasmine hopes that she will embrace all new learning experiences and grow through her skills of data and research collection during her time in West Africa.

Beatrice Libchaber, Geography and International Development Studies
Beatrice is a third year student, pursuing a double major in geography and international development, who will be interning with Equitas. Based in Montreal, Equitas is Canada’s most recognized and active Human Rights education organization, working for the advancement of equality, social justice, and respect for human dignity through transformative education programs. Beatrice hopes to take this opportunity to develop her knowledge and understanding of issues at the intersection of Human Rights, global social justice, and international cooperation and education.

Allegra Mendelson-Grasse, Religious Studies and Economics
Allegra is currently pursuing a double major in religious studies and economics. This summer she will be interning at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The UNHCR works to protect, support, and safeguard the rights of refugees and forcibly displaced persons. Her work will include interviewing, registering, and processing refugees seeking asylum, local integration, repatriation, and resettlement.

Catharina O'Donnell, Honours Sociology and Political Science
Catharina will be spending her summer interning at the Delegation of the European Union to Canada. The delegation works to promote the EU in Canada and to keep the EU up to date on relevant developments in Canadian politics. As an intern, Catharina will learn about the different roles of the delegation through participation in meetings, report writing, and working with the Ambassador and other staff. She looks forward to furthering her understanding of the EU, international relations, and public diplomacy.

Jacob O’Driscoll, Economics
This summer, Jacob will be interning at the Government of Quebec’s Delegation in New York City in the Departments of Public and Economic Affairs. The Government of Quebec’s Delegation in New York City is Quebec’s largest office in the United States and works towards promoting the social, cultural, and economic interests of the Quebec people in the U.S. He is excited about this opportunity because of his interest in international relations.

Rasha Rashid, Political Science and Gender, Sexuality & Feminist Studies
Rasha will intern at Save the Children Canada as a Gender Equality Support Officer, where she will conduct research and use gender mainstreaming tools to assist in delivering sustainable programs focused on advancing the rights of young children. She is passionate about women’s and youth empowerment, having committed her community engagement work to sexual prevention and awareness and social equity issues. She will apply the knowledge she has gained through her GSFS program and hopes to broaden her understanding of how contemporary developmental processes impact gender relations.

Kyla Wills, Anthropology and International Development Studies
This summer Kyla will be interning with the University for Development Studies, an academic institution based in Tamale, Ghana, that strives to comprehensively study development issues pertinent to northern Ghana. As a student participating in a field semester program, which takes a participatory and integrative approach to community and development studies, Kyla hopes to use this opportunity to begin gaining experience in field work or research related to her academic interests, such as the intersection between environment, identity, development, and development alternatives.

Titouan Chassagne, Honours Political Science
This summer Titouan will be interning with the United Nations Development Programme in New York. With development projects in more than 170 countries, the UNDP’s principal goal is the eradication of global poverty and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. By helping countries develop policies, partnering abilities, and institutional capabilities it seeks to achieve sustainable development. Titouan is looking forward to working with the UNDP security office and learning how to ensure the safety of UN practitioners while maximizing aid delivery.

Marine Loison, International Development Studies
This summer Marine will be interning at Garden Pool, an international charity based in Mesa, Arizona. The charity’s mission is to research and spread sustainable farming methods. Garden Pool works with local and international partners to ensure a wider net of sustainable farming discussion. Marine is excited to work with Garden Pool and learn more about sustainable farming.

Eva May, Political Science
Eva is a third year student pursuing a major in political science and a minor in French. She will be interning with Bet Tzedek, a non-profit law firm. They provide free legal services including consultation, representation, and education to low-income communities in Los Angeles, USA. Eva hopes that this experience will help her view politics through a legal ‘lens’, as she expands her legal skills and knowledge while working to assist those in need.

Alissa Zilberchteine, Art History and English Literature
Alissa is a third-year student pursuing a double major in art history and English literature. She will be interning at the Museum of American Illustration in New York City, the oldest non-profit organization dedicated to the art of illustration. This position is Alissa's opportunity to work directly with the artists and artworks that she has studied throughout her degree, and to advance her own career as a practicing illustrator.ÌýÌý

Catherine Jeffery, Honours Gender, Sexuality, & Feminist Studies
Catherine is a third year honours student in gender, sexuality, and feminist studies. She will be interning with AIDS Community Care Montreal (ACCM), an activist organization in Montreal which provides support to communities affected by HIV and hepatitis C. Interested in radical forms of social justice organization, Catherine is looking forward to working with ACCM to empower communities in Montreal.

Amanda Tetrault, Social Work
Amanda is completing her PhD of Social Work degree and will be completing a research internship with the International Community Action Network. Amanda has been the director of Living Together, an arts-based program that brings together Muslims and Jewish youth, for 8 years. Her professional and personal experiences have led to a deep motivation to uncover how marginalization and the process of othersÌýaffects individuals and their families.

Jeanne Mayrand-Thibert, Political Science and Sociology
​Jeanne will be interning at the Center for Law and Democracy (CLD) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The CLD works for the promotion of Human Rights that underpins strong participatory democracy, such as freedom of expression and access to information, in a wide range of countries. Given her interest in accountability mechanisms and government transparency, Jeanne is excited to engage with the mission of the CLD and campaign for the protection of digital rights.

Gabriel Montreuil-Moreau, International Development Studies and Middle Eastern Studies
Gabriel’s professional and academic interests are driven by development problems faced by youth globally. This summer, Gabriel will be interning at the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs in Beirut, Lebanon. He will contribute to the Education and Youth Policy Research Program of the institute, and hopes to use his professional experiences in education and his studies in development to help design sound policy recommendations for the sake of Middle Eastern youth.

Erica Dias, Psychology
Erica Dias, currently a student in Psychology, will be interning with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the West Island, in Montreal, which works to foster positive and healthy relationships between children and adults. Erica will be interning as a case worker. She hopes that her experience with Big Brothers and Big Sisters will provide in-depth knowledge about the social work field, and will enable her to reach her goal of working as a social worker internationally.

Victoria Emanuelle Forest Briand, Honours Political Science
Victoria Emanuelle will be interning with Friends of Head Harbour Lightstation on Campobello Island, New Brunswick. Her internship duties include putting together, archiving, and collecting oral histories that will be used in a forthcoming museum project centered around the Head Harbour Lightstation, a 150-year-old landmark and federal heritage site. Victoria Emanuelle is looking forward to developing her archiving and research skills. She is excited to help contribute to the preservation of an important Canadian landmark.

Nora Duffy, English
Nora Duffy is an English cultural studies major, history minor, going into her final year of study at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. This summer, Nora will be working with the Regent Park Film Festival in Toronto as a community outreach intern.Ìý She is looking forward to working with an organization which shares her interest in accessible programming, community-based learning, and the importance of cultural development to historically underfunded areas like Regent Park.ÌýÌý

Mary Kavanagh, Honours International Development Studies
Mary Kavanagh is a U2 honours international development student aiming for a career in the area of Human Rights. Her particular interests lie in the intersection if Indigenous rights and gender equality, and she hopes to further her knowledge of the current issues in these areas through her internship with the Indigenous Peoples of Africa Coordinating Committee (IPACC), an advocacy network of 125 community-based Indigenous peoples’ organizations in twenty-two African countries based in Cape Town.

Iris Rapoport, Philosophy
Iris is a second-year student from Tel-Aviv and Paris studying philosophy with a cognitive science focus. She will intern at ZenCity, a startup based in Tel-Aviv. ZenCity connects local governments with the needs of their citizens, gathering data from social media and municipal hotlines and using AI and machine learning to uncover trends in citizen concerns. As a data analysis intern, Iris will have the exciting opportunity to develop her connection with the start-up world while building quantitative research skills.

Jordana Schiff, Political Science
After spending a year studying in Israel, Jordana is excited to be returning this summer to intern with the Kohelet Policy Forum in Jerusalem. She is excited to experience first-hand the politics of the Middle East and use her Hebrew skills. As Jordana hopes to one day live in Israel and pursue a political career there, she hopes to gain valuable connections in the area and explore her future possibilities.

Fatou Ndiaye, Honors Political Science
Fatou is a third-year student pursuing honors political science and a double minor in sociology and international development. She will be interning as a coordinating assistant for the International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP) hosted by Equitas. Equitas is an NGO based in Montreal that has undertaken global leadership in the Human Rights education movement. Through this opportunity to work with Equitas, Fatou hopes to develop organizational and inter-personal skills while supporting a major international event.

Dara Salih, Honours Economics
Dara will be interning at ELIMU, a research NGO based in Kenya, which evaluates development projects in order to determine the most effective ways to improve living standards and alleviate poverty. Dara is pursuing an honours degree in economics with a minor concentration in international development studies. Through this internship she hopes to build on her long-standing commitment and interest in working to promote development, poverty reduction, and good governance.

Emma Sitland, Honours International Development Studies
Emma Sitland is a third-year student pursuing an honours in international development studies and minors in French and African studies. She will be interning with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice in Accra, Ghana. The CHRAJ works to protect Human Rights, enforce good governance, and prevent corruption. Emma hopes to use this experience in her pursuit of a career in international human rights law.

Sophia Winkler, International Developments Studies and Islamic Studies
Sophia will intern at the United States Embassy in Rabat, Morocco. She will be working with diplomats in the Public Affairs Section of the embassy, hoping to gain a better understanding of the formal structure of American diplomacy abroad. Sophia is originally from the American state of North Carolina and loves to chat about cultural differences.

Ashly Yu, ÌýHonours Political Science and East Asian Studies
Ashley will be interning at HELP for Domestic Workers in Hong Kong, an NGO that gives advice to migrant domestic workers to help them navigate the legal system. She will be interviewing clients, accompanying them to hearings, and researching ordinances for their claims. Ashly looks forward to learning more about migrant workers’ human rights situation and the Hong Kong legal system.

Maria Teresa Hernandez Villareal, Sociology
Maritere Hernández is a U1 student majoring in sociology. She will intern at Museo de Memoria y Tolerancia in Mexico City. This institution wants to spread awareness of the importance of tolerance, peace, and Human Rights. This opportunity will allow her to address some of the social problems affecting vulnerable populations like migrants and Indigenous communities through the workshops given by the museum, in which she will actively collaborate.

Lily-Cannelle Mathieu, Joint Honours Art History and Anthropology
Lily-Cannelle is a joint honours student in art history and anthropology with a minor in East Asian studies and a particular interest in exhibition practices and heritage management. She is an editor for Canvas and Orientations, two of ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ’s undergraduate journals, and she is looking forward to continuing being involved in stimulating academic activities at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. She is very enthusiastic about her upcoming summer internship at the Castello Ursino public museum in Catania, Italy.

Momanyi Mokaya, Economics
Momanyi will intern with ELIMU, a research NGO located in Kenya that measures the practical impact of different poverty alleviation initiatives, such as rural electrification and improvement in the quality of education. Having African roots, he has always been interested by questions related to economic development. He is thus very enthusiastic by the valuable prospect to have a field experience and employ his knowledge, while contributing to the uncovering of cost effective methods to improve living standards.

Tessie Nikuze, International Development Studies
Tessie is pursuing a major in international development with a minor in social entrepreneurship. She will be interning with Equitas-International center for Human Rights Education, which advances equality, social justice and, respect for human dignity around the world through education. Tessie will help organize a world leading training program for Human Rights leaders. She hopes to learn how worldwide Human Rights educators create action-based strategies for better social impact, as well as to deepen her understanding of Human Rights advocacy while acquiring important event coordination skills.

Evrim Zeynep Özer, Political Science and History
Evrim is a second-year student pursuing a joint-honours degree in political science and history. She will be interning at Istanbul Policy Center, in Istanbul, Turkey. IPC is an international policy research institution within Sabanci University, that specializes in political issues ranging from democratization to climate change; she will be focusing on institutional reforms in developing countries. She hopes that this internship will provide her the opportunity of assisting scholars and gaining administrative experience.

Ozanay Bozkaya, Economics and Political Science
Ozanay will intern with the Istanbul Policy Center under the Conflict Resolution and Mediation module, a think-tank dedicated to researching and analyzing global politics as well as participating in development projects. Ozanay is currently a U2 student majoring in economics and political science. His interests include international politics and diplomacy, which he looks to put into practice with a research internship analyzing global political trends. He intends to pursue graduate studies in this field.

Alexander Goldman, History
Alex Goldman is a DC area native who took a two-year leave of absence for the duration of the 2016 presidential election cycle in order to work for the Hillary Clinton Campaign. He served as the Regional Organizing Director for Minnesota in the general election. He is committed to progressive policy change, grassroots empowerment, and making the world a better more inclusive place through positive political engagement. This summer, Alex will be interning at the Democratic Coordinated Campaign Committee.

Jean Kagame, Social Work
Jean is a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Social Work and a minor in international development studies. He will be interning at Survivors Fund Rwanda (SURF), a UK non-profit organisation based in Rwanda that works to rebuild the lives of survivors of the 1994 Rwandan genocide against Tutsi. During his time with SURF, Jean will work closely with the organisation’s social worker to provide psycho-social support to the youth and women supported by SURF. Through this, he is hoping to explore how indigenous knowledge and practices can be applied by international NGOs to achieve desired results during their interventions after tragedies such as war or genocide in the context of Rwanda.

Shehrbanno Niazi, World Islamic & Middle East Studies and Political Science
Shehrbano will be interning at the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations, as well as the United Nations Headquarters in New York, under the General Assembly. Her duties will consist of performing research in the fields of development and Human Rights in Pakistan. Pursuing a joint major in world Islamic & Middle East studies and political science, Shehrbano hopes that her internship will provide her with valuable skills in the realm of diplomacy.

Magali Vennin, Political Science and Economics
Magali will be interning at the Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides (OFPRA), the French agency in charge of responding to refugee claims. With this internship, she wishes to gain further understanding on what shapes French officers’ final decision. Furthermore, she hopes this will enable her to hone her research skills, for she will be focusing on creating a database on the geopolitics of the Balkans. She is excited to undertake this, as it aligns with her desire to be an immigration lawyer.

Vincent Yagayandi, Social Work
Vincent will intern in Dzaleka refugee camp, Malawi for Jesuit Refugee Services (JRS). JRS is an international Catholic organization with a mission to accompany, serve, and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons. He hopes to use his knowledge and skills from the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ School of Social Work to assist refugees seeking psycho-social services and facilitate therapeutic support groups.

Heather Lawson, Philosophy and Economics
Heather is a third-year student completing a double major in philosophy and economics as well as a minor in gender, sexuality, feminist and social justice studies. This summer, she will be interning at Samrakshak Samuha Nepal (SASANE), a non-governmental organization assisting female victims of human trafficking to compete their paralegal certifications. Heather is hoping the experience will expand her interest in feminist legal studies.

Sheree Marshall, Psychology
Sheree Marshall is currently pursuing a major in psychology and a minor in sociology. She will be interning at Kamili Organisation, a Kenya based organization dedicated to providing resources for locals suffering with mental health illnesses. As a Kenyan who grew up witnessing the lack of information and widespread stigma towards these communities, she is excited to apply her advocacy into meaningful action.

Idil Uner, Psychology
Idil is a third-year student majoring in psychology and minoring in economics and marketing. Her main interest involves exploring human behavior across different disciplines. This summer Idil will intern under strategy consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a professional services firm, in Istanbul, Turkey. Idil is excited to apply her interdisciplinary interest to this internship role and hopes to be inspired by PwC’s unparalleled spirit and drive to deliver the best services.

Aline Boire, Anthropology and Linguistics
Aline is completing a double major in anthropology and linguistics. She will be interning with the Indigenous Movement for Peace Advancement and Conflict Transformation (IMPACT), a community development organization based in Nanyuki, Kenya. IMPACT works to strengthen the decision-making power of minority and indigenous groups in land rights, conservation, and development policies. Aline hopes to learn about the strategies and challenges of grass-root organisation in their efforts to protect and promote the interests of marginalized groups.

Léonie Borel, International Development Studies and Geography
Léonie will be interning with the South Rift Association of Landowners (SORALO) in Kenya, a partner organization of the Institutional Canopy of Conservation that works primarily on bringing landowners together for an effective sustainable management of natural resources. Léonie is passionate by conservation and food security. After her participation in the 2017 African Field Study Semester, Léonie hopes to take this opportunity to develop her knowledge on conservation and environmental management efforts.

Zachary Rynar, International Development Studies
Zack will be interning at the Native Friendship Centre of Montreal, the only comprehensive organization that offers legal, educational, health, and employment services to the Indigenous population in the Greater Montreal area. From New Jersey, Zack is a U3 international development major with a minor concentration in colonial history. He will be responsible for the coordination of a variety of events and opportunities that center around community support and engagement. Zack is looking forward to pursuing action regarding Indigenous reconciliation in the North American context.
