Pierre-Emmanuel Moyse promoted to Full Professor
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce that Professor Pierre-Emmanuel Moyse will be promoted to the rank of full professor, effective 1 June 2022.聽
Professor Moyse joined the Faculty of Law in 2006 as a Wainwright Junior Fellow, before being appointed assistant professor in 2007. He is a member of the (CIPP), which he served as director from 2011 to 2020. After completing his first law studies in France and obtaining an undergraduate degree in integrated French-German business law from the University of Mainz, Germany, he obtained an LLM in intellectual property and a doctorate in law from the Universit茅 de Montr茅al. In parallel, he completed a Bachelor of Law for admission to l鈥櫭塩ole du Barreau du Qu茅bec, from which he graduated in 2000. He was a researcher at the Centre de recherche en droit public from 1995 to 2000. He is the founder and editor of 脡ditions Th茅mis鈥 Innovation and Competition series, and the editor of LexisNexis鈥 Jurisclasseur Propri茅t茅 Intellectuelle.聽聽
Professor Moyse teaches and conducts research primarily in the areas of intellectual property, innovation, commercial law, and property law. In the 2014鈥2015 academic year, he taught a course on the Laws of Innovation at the University of Tel Aviv鈥檚 Buchmann Faculty of Law. He is a frequent guest of Paris-Saclay University, Universit茅 de Paris II (Panth茅on-Assas), Roma Tre University, and the University of Trento. In 2015, he created an innovative course titled "IP in the Making"; offered in collaboration with Heritage Canada and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, it was aimed at introducing students to IP public policy. This course led to the creation of the National Copyright Policy Moot, of which the fourth edition was held in 2022.聽聽
As a practising lawyer, registered trademark agent, and expert, he regularly intervenes and pleads before the courts. In 2007, he successfully pleaded in Euro-Excellence v. Kraft Canada before the Supreme Court of Canada, one of the most important decisions of its decade in intellectual property. He practiced at intellectual property law firm Robic for several years.聽聽聽聽
