Today the Government of Canada is launching the Language Portal of Canada, the first national Web site to showcase Canada's language expertise.

This initiative is part of the government's official language strategy as outlined in the Roadmap for Canada's Linguistic Duality. The Language Portal was established to provide Canadians free access to the language tools that will enable them to use and understand both official languages more easily.

One of the key features of the Portal is TERMIUM Plus庐, the Translation Bureau's terminology and linguistic data bank, which contains nearly 4 million terms in English, French and Spanish.

In addition, the Portal leads users to many writing tools, articles on language issues and other Canadian Web resources. It enables them to stay informed about what is happening across Canada in the language field.

Any Canadian organizations involved in the field of language can contribute content to the Language Portal. The Portal's content will be updated every week.
