Dean Daniel Jutras named to Wainwright Chair
It gives the Faculty of Law great pleasure to announce that Dean Daniel Jutras is the newest holder of the Wainwright Chair in Civil Law.
Wainwright Emeritus Professor of Civil Law Pierre-Gabriel Jobin, who revealed the selection committee's choice yesterday, stated that "Daniel Jutras is one of the 听most dynamic members of our Faculty. Before he was appointed Dean, his oustanding reputation was known in all legal communities in Quebec, Canada and abroad, whether in the judiciary, academia or the Bar. His nomination is an honour to the Chair."
Professor Daniel Jutras teaches and does research mostly in the areas of civil law and comparative law, often from a transsystemic perspective. He is also interested in judicial institutions and civil procedure.
Professor Jutras was Director of the Institute of Comparative Law from 1998 to 2001 and served as Associate Dean (成人VR视频 and Placement) in 1989-1991, and Associate Dean (Academic) in 1995-1998, before being appointed Dean of the Faculty of Law in 2010.
The Wainwright Fund was created through a bequest by the late Arnold Wainwright, Q.C., to promote the research, teaching and documentation of the civil law, which remained his abiding interests throughout his long and distinguished career. The Chair serves to publicly recognise excellence in civil law research and publication by a member of this Faculty.
