Law student Mary Race wins ALDF Animal Law Scholarship
The Faculty of Law was happy to learn that law student Mary Race is one of two recipients of the Animal Legal Defense Fund鈥檚 (ALDF) Advancement of Animal Law Scholarship for 2009-2010.
Second-year BCL/LLB student Mary Race is the current president of the 成人VR视频 ALDF student chapter. Race is also organizing a student-led seminar in Animal Law at 成人VR视频 next fall. She explains that her interest in this area of the law began 鈥渨hen I read an article on the subject in the Faculty鈥檚 alumni magazine before I started my degree. It really captured my attention and heart.鈥
Law Professor Wendy Adams is delighted: "Mary was competing against students from well over a hundred law faculties in Canada and the U.S., including some that have animal law programs. To win the award at all is fantastic.聽 To have two of our students win recognition from the ALDF* in as many years is outstanding.鈥
About the Animal Legal Defense Fund
Founded in 1979, the Animal Legal Defense Fund is a renowned legal advocacy organization for animals. It runs various programs dedicated to protecting the lives of animals and to fostering the field of animal law among legal professionals and in law schools in North America.
