Media Advisory: 成人VR视频 hosts reproductive health symposium

Internationally recognized feminism experts to speak on women鈥檚 reproductive and sexual health issues

Women鈥檚 reproductive and sexual health issues will be the focus of the Symposium on Reproductive Health Matters, organized by the 成人VR视频 Centre for Research and Teaching on Women (MCRTW).

Featured speakers are Judy Norisigian, executive director of Our Bodies Ourselves, a women鈥檚 health advocacy group; Marsha J. Tyson Darling, Adelphia University professor; and Sarah Sexton of The Corner House, a social advocacy group based in the United Kingdom.

Judy Norisigian is the co-founder of Our Bodies Ourselves, also known as the Boston Women鈥檚 Health Book Collective, a non-profit women鈥檚 health education, advocacy and consulting organization. She will deliver a lecture titled 鈥淔rom Birthing to Hot Flashes: The Pitfalls of Medicalizing Women鈥檚 Lives.鈥

Marsha J. Tyson Darling is a professor of History and Interdisciplinary Studies and director of Adelphi University鈥檚 Center for African-American and Ethnic Studies. She will discuss contraception and the politics of birth control in a speech titled 鈥淐onsidering Justice for Women in the Gene Age: Intersectionality and Reproductive Biotechnologies.鈥

Sarah Sexton of The Corner House, an organization that supports democratic and community movements for environmental and social justice, will discuss prenatal screening and the commercialization of embryos in her speech, 鈥淭he F-word: Financial and Other Aspects of Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research.鈥

成人VR视频 Dean of Medicine Dr. Richard Levin will provide the opening remarks. Students, faculty and the community are invited to attend workshops after each lecture.
