Mini-Med School at the Children's - Back by popular demand!

Published: 20 April 2006

A chance to discover what medical school is really like

The Montreal Children's Hospital of the MUHC is once again hosting Mini-Med School at the Children's. Because of this event's popularity last year, we've added to the curriculum and will be hosting a free open house this spring in addition to our six-part fall lecture series. Mini-Med School is offered in English on Mondays and in French on Wednesdays.

Mini-Med School at the Children's is designed for anyone who ever dreamed of going to medical school. Mini-Med School provides practical advice not only on how to care for kids but also about the science behind the care. The Children's has assembled seven of its leading pediatric specialists, who will give lectures about pediatric brain tumors, ADHD, allergies, hearing problems, asthma and other breathing difficulties, sleep problems, and pain management. Parents, grandparents, young people considering medical careers, budding science journalists, as well as teachers and daycare workers are invited to spend 1.5 hours a week with leading medical specialists from the Montreal Children's Hospital and the 成人VR视频 Faculty of Medicine.

"Last year's Mini-Med School at the Children's was a huge success; we sold out in English and came close to a sold-out crowd in French," says Dr. Hy Goldman, one of the co-chairs of Mini-Med School at the Children's. "Obviously, the public is looking for a reliable source of health information and I'm glad the Children's is able to meet their needs."

The good news is, no medical or science background is required and there is NO homework!!

Registration in Mini-Med School is on now, with the free open house lecture on May 8 at 7:30 pm and the fall lecture series starting on September 11 in English. The free French open house is on May 3 at 7:30 pm, with the lectures starting on September 13. The cost for the six lectures in the fall is only $60 for adults and $30 for students and seniors. Seating is limited. For more information and to register check out our .

Mini-Med School has been made possible thanks to the generous support of the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation.
