Professor Adelle Blackett named member of the Commission des droits de la personne
The Faculty of Law is proud to announce that Professor was sworn in as a
member of the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de
la jeunesse on June 26, 2009, at the National Assembly, for a five
year mandate.
Professor Blackett, a William Dawson Scholar,聽 is an expert in
labour law, trade law and international development. A former
official of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva,
Switzerland, she continues to advise that body on standard setting
for decent work for domestic workers.
Her ongoing research areas include rethinking the relationship
between trade regulation and labour law from a distributive justice
perspective, examining the role of international persuasion in
labour law reform in West Africa, and identifying regulatory
vehicles to promote the citizenship at work of domestic
workers.
