Schulich School of Music graduates and students shine at the 2017 Prix d'Europe
Many of our students and alumni performed very well at this year's Prix d'Europe competition. 听Felix Hong, BMus'16, ArtDip '17, was听awarded the听2017 Prix d'Europe grand prize听from l'Academie de musique du Qu茅bec. 听The prize has a cash value of $25,000 and has been awarded every year since 1911. 听Felix Hong is a piano student of Professor Ilya Poletaev. 听Other Schulich School of Music winners in different categories include Charles-Antoine Fr茅chette, DMus 2014, who won the Prix d'Europe de composition (Prix Fernand-Lindsay);听Antoine Malette-Ch茅nier, harp, Grad Dip'17 - Deuxi猫me prix, Prix Pierre Mantha; Stephanie Morin, flute, BMus'17听-听Quatri猫me prix, Prix de l'Acad茅mie; 听Elizabeth Skinner, violin, MMus'15, DMus current -听Prix B茅atrice-Kennedy-Bourbeau; and F茅lix Marquis, piano, BMus'14, Prix Jean-Paul Sevilla.
The competition aims to encourage young musicians to perfect their art and provides funding to 听the winner of the Prix d'Europe to pursue further studies outside of Quebec. 听Thanks to the support of many generous sponsors, this competition supports singers and instrumentalists from the ages of 18 to 30 as well as composers from ages 18 to 35. 听In addition to the $25,000 Grand Prize, 听special awards are given to finalists in each category (voice, keyboard, strings and woodwinds/percussion). 听Since 2009, the competition has also offered a biannual composition prize of $10,000, generously donated by the Foundation P猫re Lindsay.
