Student Job Opportunity: Project Assistant for the Little Free Library Initiative
Position Description:
Funded by 成人VR视频鈥檚 Sustainability Project Fund (SPF), The Little Free Library Initiative is looking for a project assistant. As a member of the coordinating committee, you will engage and network with fellow graduate students and faculty at 成人VR视频 and other Canadian universities to help realize the project.
Little Free Libraries (LFLs) are designed for sharing books. That is, all printed materials put in these wooden boxes are donated or exchanged, as opposed to loaned in the tradition of a regular library. The LFL entices communities to give, exchange, and take books with the aim of encouraging sustainable literacy practices, all the while developing a space for university students, faculty, and staff to revitalize and recycle printed books. LFL efforts have proven to bolster communal democratic engagement, and promote access to multiple knowledge sources by occupying readily accessible spaces for the public good.
This is a great opportunity for those looking to build experience in service, community engagement and sustainability.
How to Apply:
If you are interested, please email lflmcgill [at] gmail [dot] com and indicate your area of expertise and past experiences coordinating a project, as well as why you would like to be a part of the coordinating team. You must also indicate your level of study, program and department. The deadline for applications is June 1, 2017.
Responsibilities:
- Order four Little Free Libraries and coordinate with shipping and delivery. All costs are covered by the SPF.
- Recruit and organize small teams of students to assemble and paint the Little Free Libraries.
- Put the LFLs in the designated spaces determined by 成人VR视频.
- Host four workshops on campus.
- Help raise external 成人VR视频-based funds.
