On May 28 to 30, 2014, Canada made a committment of $3.5 billion to improve the health of mothers and children for the period of 2015鈥2020 to end the preventable deaths of mothers, newborn and children younger than age five. These efforts are threefold, focused on strengthening health systems, reducing the burden of leading diseases, and improving nutrition.
