We invite you to join us in celebrating and supporting all women by browsing the following content and resources and getting involved.

Join us on March 8, 2024, to celebrate International Women's Day alongside six organizations that help support women facing adversity. This tabling event will allow you to navigate issues affecting women in Montreal and connect with local organizations such as Old Mission Brewery, Chez Doris, La Rue Des Femmes, Dress for Success, Logifem, and La Maison Marguerite.

Date: March 8, 2024
Time: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Lobby of 680 Sherbrooke O.

Chez Doris provides a safe place for women in need while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. They empower those who identify as women to reach their full potential, presenting them with opportunities to thrive. They do this by offering safe spaces, and a broad range of services that give them access to food, clothing, day and night shelter, housing solutions, and personal comfort. They are committed to creating a non-judgmental environment for their clientele, providing them with the dignity, and care needed to succeed beyond their precarious situations.

Dress for Success Montreal accompanies women throughout their journey to secure employment, from job interviews to professional success. When referred to Dress for Success Montreal, women receive coaching and advice as they prepare for their interview, as well as work with a volunteer stylist to select a professional outfit. Dress for Success Montreal helps all women, trans and non-binary women, any age and ethnicity, and any background, creating an empowering experience in an inclusive, non-judgmental, and supportive environment.

Logifem is an organization that provides shelter and care to women and children in Montreal, empowering them to break free from the cycle of homelessness. They receive women on an emergency basis and can offer shelter for up to one year with the possibility of transitional apartments. In response to the lack of services for women experiencing homelessness with children, Logifem created large bedrooms to accommodate families and invested in a playroom as well as specialized intervention workers. Their post-shelter program for women who leave their shelter ensures a smooth transition to autonomous living.

La Maison Marguerite warmly, and unconditionally, welcomes single women, homeless women, abused women, and women facing difficult circumstances. Over the years that they have been in service, they offer women a wide range of assistance from emergency accommodation to permanent accommodation with social housing support. In 2020, La Maison Marguerite set up a new section of permanent accommodation intended for single women, with low or modest income consisting of 26 apartments, and a social housing support program.

Old Mission Brewery acknowledges that the causes of homelessness among women and the issues they face require a unique set of services to break the cycle. They act on prevention, using their dynamic intervention model paired with emergency and rehousing programs. Old Mission Brewery鈥檚 Women鈥檚 Services have adapted to their clientele, implementing emergency accommodation programs to better support them on the path to sustainable reaffiliation. A women-only pavilion gives them a safe environment for their journey, representing safe places for women in the process of regaining their residential stability.

La Rue des Femmes is an established relational health centre that supports women who are in a state of homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. They focus on healing relational wounds and helping these women rebuild their lives through socio-emotional, psychological, and health care. They offer psycho-relational therapy and transition, assistance transitioning to independent housing and emergency service, and more. Through therapeutic and preventative care efforts, they hope to bring an introspective approach to caring for the homeless and raise awareness for the unique challenges of women facing homelessness.
