Biography: 

Ken Matziorinis has taught economics at the graduate level for the School of Continuing Studies at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ since 1979 and teaches at John Abbott College. He has also applied economics as a certified management consultant and economic forecaster through his firm, Canbek Economic Consultants Inc. .

His consulting work has included the design and implementation of MBO performance appraisal systems, financial MIS, HR and organizational development; bank treasury and financial risk and asset-liability management and economic forecasting. Has advised clients on international trade and anti-dumping, appeared as an expert witness before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, prepared strategic assessments and business plans and has advised hedge funds. Has served on the board of directors of the National Bank of Greece (Canada). Ken has earned The Distinguished Teaching Award from the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ CCE twice, in 1993 and 2006.

His research interests include tax incentives for capital investment, the theory of expansion and replacement investment, capital-output specificity and the impact of changes in the composition of output on capital investment, the role of expectations in consumer and capital investment spending decisions, the economies of Greece and Southeastern Europe, the political economy of the international monetary system and economic history of the ancient world.

As a student, Ken was elected President of the Economics Students’ Association, Vice-President of the Students’ Society of ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ (SSMU), student representative on the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Senate and Board of Governors. He is a recipient of the Scarlet Key Award from ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ.

Ken has served on the board of directors of a CLSC, John Abbott College, Trafalgar School for Girls and is Chapter President of AHEPA.

He is the author of four textbooks and numerous papers and is a frequent guest lecturer on topics of current economic and geopolitical interest.
