BCom alum is advocating for work-life balance from the C-suite
When working for a Big Four accounting firm early in her career, Sheila Vokey (BCom鈥84)鈥攏ow President and CEO of the responsible investing firm Central 1鈥攕aw senior managers struggle to balance work and family life and decided on a different approach. After stints at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, the Bank of Canada, and Payments Canada, Vokey headed west to Vancouver to become CFO at Central 1, where she has been an advocate of remote work and work-life balance ever since. 鈥淲e completely opened up our working-from-home policy, and it is really valued by our employees,鈥 she tells BIV: Business Intelligence for BC.
