Dr. Tyler Churchward-Venne appointed as William Dawson Scholar by 成人VR视频

Tyler Churchward-Venne, Assistant Professor with our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE), has been named as a听William Dawson Scholar听by 成人VR视频.

This prestigious award听recognizes a scholar developing into an outstanding and original researcher of world-class caliber who is poised to become a leader in his or her field, similar to that of a CRC Tier 2 chair holder. Founded in 2000 in parallel听with the federal Canada Research Chair (CRC) program,听听the听William Dawson Scholar听award听recognizes the outstanding research contributions of tenure-track听academic staff members at the University.

The focus of Dr. Churchward-Venne鈥檚 research program is the in-vivo regulation of human skeletal muscle protein metabolism. He studies how nutrition and exercise impact the synthesis and breakdown of proteins in muscle and promote healthy muscle metabolism across the lifespan. Currently, his research is aimed at better understanding the mechanisms of skeletal muscle loss, as occurs with aging and muscle disuse, and identifying optimal exercise and nutritional approaches to听protect and restore skeletal muscle mass and strength. His research program is currently funded by 成人VR视频 and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Dr. Churchward-Venne is a member of the 成人VR视频 Research Centre for Physical Activity and Health (PATH), and Director of KPE's Exercise Metabolism and Nutrition Research Laboratory.
