Student Status Categories

To help you use the Academic Advising Self-Serve Form, please review which student status category reflects your personal situation. Click on the tabs for the full descriptions.

Prospective Students

Anyone interested in applying or in the process of applying to become a student in 成人VR视频 Faculty of Education.听

Newly Admitted Students

Newly Admitted Students (U0): Graduating high school students who have accepted their offer of admission to 成人VR视频 Education but who are required to take additional Freshman/Foundation Year courses, as listed in your admissions letter. For example:

  • B.Sc. Kinesiology: above 90 credits
  • B.A. (Education) in Global Contexts: above 90 credits
  • B.Ed.: Above 120 credits

Newly Admitted Students (U1): Students who have been accepted their offer of admission to 成人VR视频 Education who have completed either CEGEP, A-Levels, CAPE, French Baccalaureate, or the International Baccalaureate Diploma and have not been asked to take additional courses, as listed in your admissions letter. For example:

  • B.Sc. Kinesiology: 90 credits or less
  • B.A. (Education) in Global Contexts: 90 credits or less

Once finalized, you will receive a cumulative record outlining which courses have been accepted for transfer/equivalency and which courses you will need to take to complete your program. Foundation year information

Students admitted from high school must complete Year 0 (U0), the Foundation Year.

After completing 30 credits of courses in your Foundation (U0) year, you will start following the highly structured Year 1 course plan for your degree.

In your Foundation year (U0), you must successfully complete the courses listed below with a grade of C or Better. You will not be granted permission to take first year (U1) courses if the credits from the Founation year have not been obtained.

Even as a U0 student, you may be eligible for some transfer credits, depending on your previous studies. If you are a newly admitted student, you don't actually apply for transfer credit. On your application to 成人VR视频, you must indicate any courses you took at a CEGEP, university or other higher education institution. International Students in Bachelor of Education programs in addition to the CAQ and Study Permit, must obtain a Co-op/Internship Work Permit issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada as a requirement for the mandatory Field Experiences. Consult the Internships & Student Affairs office (ISA) for instructions and International Student Services for more information about the permit application. The Education Student Affairs Office will provide you with the letter that is required from your institution as part of the application process. isa.education [at] mcgill.ca (Email) your request using your 成人VR视频 email address and be sure to provide your 成人VR视频 ID number. It is important to begin the process of obtaining the Work Permit (Internship) as soon as you accept the offer of admission, as it requires a medical exam, and in the past has taken up to 3 months for CIC to process the application.

Changing Programs

The Faculty of Education only accepts transfer applications for the Fall (September) semester. There are two types of transfers:

  • Inter-Faculty Transfers: Students currently registered in a degree program in the Faculty of Education (who will not be graduating in the current academic year) may apply to transfer to a different program within the Faculty.
  • Intra-Faculty Transfers: Students currently registered in a degree program in another faculty and will be returning the following fall.
