Abstract

The purpose of this practicum was to undertake the conceptualization, background research, and creation of the preliminary tools for a mental health promotion campaign produced by Mouvement Sant茅 mentale Qu茅bec on the theme of 鈥淢aking Choices.鈥 The practicum involved identifying the theoretical basis for the campaign, completing a thorough review and synthesis of the extant literature, meeting with experts, stakeholders, and toolkit users, and finally creating concrete tools to be disseminated to Quebecers. Thus, the project included both autonomous activities in the form of research and writing, as well as interactive activities in the form of meetings and presentations. The Zoom presentations and meetings with committee members, experts in self-determination, workplace well-being, and members of the target demographics, provided me with considerable leadership opportunities and professional development. The practicum culminated in the creation of four in-depth documents with information and practical exercises and tools for each of the identified target populations: youth, older adults, employees, and adults in the general population. I also wrote the first draft of an article that will be published in Spiritualit茅sant茅 on the topic of the importance of self-determination, autonomy, and making choices for health promotion. Special consideration was taken regarding the impact of COVID-19 restrictions on the opportunities for making choices in daily life.
