Mallar Chakravarty
Associate Professor
I am a Computational Neuroscientist in the Cerebral Imaging Centre at the Douglas Research Centre. I am also an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and an Associate Member of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at 成人VR视频. I also act as the Director of the Cerebral Imaging Centre and the inaugural Director of the Douglas NeuroInformatics Platform.
I received my bachelor鈥檚 degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from 成人VR视频 and then went on to do postdoctoral fellowships in Aarhus, Denmark and jointly at the Rotman Research Institute and at the Mouse Imaging Centre (MICe) and the Hospital Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. Between fellowships, I worked at the Allen Institute for Brain Science (Seattle, WA, USA).
I am interested in the anatomy of the brain. My group focuses on how anatomy changes through development, aging, and in illness and how the dynamics of brain anatomy are influenced by genetics and environment. To study this, I use magnetic resonance imaging data from both humans and rodent models of the nervous system.
Mentorship has played a crucial role in shaping me as a scientist. Moving around, changing cities, understanding new local and institutional cultures can be a challenge. Understanding expectations and what institutional burdens should and will be in your purview is critical. I hope that, as a mentor, I can help you find your place at 成人VR视频.
