1. Diaphragm morphology in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Characterizing diaphragm structure and composition in vivo using computed tomography.
2. Airway branch patterns in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Characterizing central and peripheral airway branch patterns and assessing susceptibility to cigarette-smoke induced chronic lung injury.
3. Cardiotoxic breathing mechanics in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Quantification of inspiratory pleural pressures throughout exercise and assessing the relationship with measures of cardiac wall stress.
