Areas of Interest:
- Inborn errors of immunity
- Post-infectious conditions
- Long COVID
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Immune dysregulation and autoimmunity
- Host-microbe interactions
- Function of the intestinal microbiota
- Function of microbial extracellular vesicles
- Intestinal barrier function
Our mission is to better understand mechanistic processes centered on host-microbe interactions to identify new disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets that can be applied to various clinical conditions.
Our Research Program includes 2 Axes:
- the study of inborn errors of immunity to better understand and treat pathologies affecting larger populations;
- the study of post-infectious conditions such as Long COVID.
We are interested in understanding both how microbes can drive immune dysregulation, and how altered host environments can impact microbial function.
Our projects involve clinical protocols, 2-D and 3-D in vitro models and in vivo models. Ultimately, we aim to translate our discoveries into tools and/or interventions that can improve health for all.
1. Impact of immunomodulatory interventions on the composition and function of the microbiota in inborn errors of immunity.
2. Functional evaluation of intestinal microbial derivatives in health and disease.
3.听Intestinal barrier dysfunction and immune dysregulation in health and disease.
4. Identification of new bacterial strains in health and disease.
