The past month has been filled with stimulating and enriching conferences and meetings.
Several educational leaders in our Department gathered at the Family Medicine Forum in Vancouver from November 6-9. At the Section of Researchers鈥� Dinner, the late Prof. Pierre Pluye was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for research. At the Section of Teachers鈥� Dinner, Syphax Brouri and 脡lise Girouard-Chantal won the student and resident awards for 成人VR视频, respectively.

A large group of our graduate students and academics met in Quebec City for the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) meeting from November 20-24. I was highly impressed with our department members who attended the poster session from 7-8 am on the Friday morning of the conference 鈥� many thanks to all for your tremendous support of our department鈥檚 scholarly activities!

The 成人VR视频 Family Medicine Refresher Course ran its 75th edition this past week, again with near-record attendance! For the first time, it included a hands-on procedures workshop at the 成人VR视频 Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning, which was sold out! We also held a "Connect and Celebrate" cocktail event to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the course which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Department of Family Medicine!

In the ongoing plans to innovate a residency training program to equip family physicians even better for the complexities of future practice, there was a day-long meeting in Drummondville on November 20th to follow up on the Outcomes of Training Project (OTP). From each of the four Departments of Family Medicine in Quebec, the Chair, the residency program director, the OTP project leader, and an evaluation expert attended. For 成人VR视频 this group included me, Dr. Fanny Hersson-Edery, Dr. Keith Todd, and Theresa Beesley, PhD. We will be regularly communicating with department member as our pilot projects in extensions of residency training are rolled out!

I am thrilled to announce the following appointments:
- Dr. Shady Abid as residency program director at the Lakeshore General Hospital site
- Dr. Dennis Okan as Transition to Clinical Practice assistant director
- Dr. Roger Gray as undergraduate education lead at the Brunswick Medical Centre.
