"Demystifying Scoping Reviews: Best Practices and Applications in Clinical Practice and Health Professions Educationa research seminar by Aliki Thomas, PhD, OT and Meredith Young, PhD

Dr. Thomas is an Associate Professor in the School of physical and Occupational Therapy and research scientist at the Centre for Medical Education, Faculty of Medicine, 成人VR视频. She earned a doctorate in educational psychology with a major in instructional psychology and a minor in applied cognitive science. She completed post-doctoral training at McMaster University in knowledge translation for evidence-based practice. Dr Thomas鈥 research is guided by the principles of the 鈥楽cholarship of Practice鈥 whereby research, education and practice are interwoven and interconnected with the aim of improving the health, function and participation of individuals in our society.

Dr Meredith Young is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine and a Research Scientist at the Centre for Medical Education at 成人VR视频. She received her PhD from McMaster University in Cognitive Psychology in 2009 investigating the integration of more formal knowledge (diagnostic rules) and informal knowledge (previous experience) in novices. Her work is situated in three main research axes; 1) investigating how reasoning unfolds in Health Professions Education by the individual (and the factors that affect reasoning), 2) exploring issues around validity in Health Professions Education, and 3) working towards methodological innovations and translations to HPE contexts.
