Seminar: eCHAT: Screening & Intervening for Mental Health & Lifestyle Issues
With Dr. Felicity Goodyear-Smith, MB CHB, MGP, Department of General Practice & Primary Health Care, University of Auckland, New Zealand.
Presentation: The electronic Case-finding and Help Assessment Tool (eCHAT) is a New Zealand primary care intervention developed over the past decade by a team led by Prof Felicity Goodyear-Smith. Self-completed by patients in the waiting room prior to consultation with their general practitioner or nurse, eCHAT case-finds for nine mental health and lifestyle risk factors (smoking, drinking, other drugs, gambling, depression, anxiety, exposure to abuse, anger control difficulties, physical inactivity) and asks with which, if any, patients 听would like help. Summary results are integrated into the electronic health record at point of care along with stepped care decision support options, facilitating a conversation for shared decision-making. BRING YOUR LUNCH! There will be light refreshments.
