Dr. Mayhew's dedication spans over three decades, providing primary care and leading public health programs across Canada, Asia, and Africa.

Currently working with the BC Physician Health Program, Dr. Mayhew's life-changing mission with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) / Doctors Without Borders in Afghanistan in 2000 served as a catalyst for her commitment to supporting the Afghan people in rebuilding their healthcare system. With a focus on improving maternal and child health in remote settings, her transformative work has made a lasting impact on her personal mission to make a difference in healthcare.

Join us as Dr. Mayhew discusses her new memoir, "Hand on My Heart: A Canadian Doctor's Awakening in Afghanistan," offering compelling personal recollections encompassing moments of growth, disorientation, wonder, and joy.

³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous Peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg Nations. ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ honours, recognizes, and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which peoples of the world now gather. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous Peoples from across Turtle Island. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.
