Program Description
The Master of Science, Applied (M.Sc.A.) in Human Nutrition (Non-Thesis) offered by the School of Human Nutrition in the Faculty of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences is a course-based program that emphasizes hands-on and challenging learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in communication, information synthesis, and problem identification to pursue professional opportunities (or potentially continue their studies).
The program is available in one of three options:
Dietetics Credentialing option:  This program has a specific minimum entrance CGPA requirement of 3.5/4.0 (First Class standing). French proficiency (minimum level B2) is required. This program includes a mandatory internship, or ‘Stage’, which will be completed in various settings where the ability to communicate proficiently in French is essential.
Practicum option: Reserved for individuals who have completed a dietetics internship and have six months of work experience, are members of the ODNQ, and wish to further develop their skills in a specific area of practice through an advanced internship.
Project option: mainly course-based masters with a project that may be in the areas of clinical, community and international or experimental nutrition

Unique Program Features
- Dietetics Credentialing: in this program accredited by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice (PDEP) and recognized in Québec by the Ordre des diététistes-nutritionnistes du Québec (ODNQ), students undertake 40 weeks of internship or professional practice (stage). As such, upon completion of this program, graduates are eligible to register and practice as a dietitian in Canada and the degree is recognized internationally.
- Practicum: this program is only available for registered dietitians who are interested in pursuing their practicum in one of the following areas: enteral/parenteral nutrition, renal disease, pediatric nutrition, maternal nutrition, respiratory disease, diabetes management, and community nutrition programs.
- Project: Students participate in research activities conducted in our on-site research labs which include the Centre for Indigenous Peoples' Nutrition and Environment (CINE), the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Institute for Global Food Security, the Clinical Nutrition Research Unit (CNRU), and various labs associated with the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Health Center (MUHC). Additionally, students can conduct research or participate in clinical rotations in Ghana and field sites in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
University-Level Admission Requirements
- Applicants must be graduates of a university with recognized reputation, and hold a B.Sc. degree equivalent to a ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ degree in a subject closely related to the one selected for graduate work.

Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ’s credit equivalency of 3.3/4.0 (high second class–upper division) for the M.Sc. Thesis and M.Sc. Applied.
