Otolaryngology (M.Sc.)

Program Description

The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Otolaryngology (Thesis) offered by the Department of Otolaryngology Head/Neck Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences is a research-intensive program that emphasizes challenging and experiential learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in information synthesis, critical thinking, and scientific communication to either continue their studies or pursue professional opportunities.

Unique Program Features

  • The program is unique in Canada and one of few globally;
  • Students may focus their research on normal function and disease of head and neck structures: otology, neuro-otology, laryngology, rhinology, oncology, surgery, auditory-vestibular sciences, middle-ear modelling, oto-toxicity, genomics, infection, thyroid disease, or genetics;
  • Graduates are well-placed to better treat ear-nose-throat diseases. Additionally, they are better positioned to do, and to evaluate, research in Otolaryngology. The combination of skills allows them to move into a variety of career opportunities.

University-Level Admission Requirements

  • An eligible Bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA out of a possible 4.0 GPA
  • English-language proficiency
