Program Description
The Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) in Social Work (Thesis) offered by the School of Social Work in the Faculty of Arts is a research-intensive program that emphasizes collaborative and comprehensive learning opportunities. The program's objective is to equip students with skills in literature synthesis, teamwork, and the presentation of complex ideas to either continue their studies or pursue professional opportunities.
The program may also be taken as the Gender and Women's Studies option is designed for students who have strong research interests and are particularly attracted to feminist theories and research methodologies.

- The program is designed for students who have strong research interests and supports the development of advanced intellectual understanding and specialized research skills in an focused substantive area of practice;
- Faculty member research interests include child welfare, families, violence, sexuality, aging, social theory, social work practice, and methodology;
- The School is a member of the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW) and the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE);
- The program is accredited by the CASWE;
- The Gender and Women's Studies option supports the development of advanced intellectual understanding and specialized research skills centered on gender, sexuality, feminism, and women in relation to "Children and Families," "Social Care and Health Studies," and "Community and International Development."
