You’ve been in this role for about a year now – how has it been going?

I’m grateful that colleagues and learners have taken the time to bring me up to speed on what they’re working on and what’s important to them. That to me is the most energizing part of the entire dossier. There’s so much amazing work being done in both education and community engagement, both by individuals and by units and departments. The enthusiasm for doing this work to better serve our learners, our staff, our faculty and the communities in Quebec is really inspiring.

Physiotherapy Considerations for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and Special Needs is a one-day workshop within the Integrated Clinical Exercise Rehabilitation course of the ��VR��Ƶ Physiotherapy program.

Now in its eighth year, this interactive workshop brings ��VR��Ƶ physiotherapy students together with athletes from Special Olympics Québec for an engaging learning experience enjoyed by all.

On October 10, second-year medical students received their white coats from their Osler fellows as part of ��VR��Ƶ’s “Donning the Healer’s Habit” ceremony that marks the transition to clinical training. Over 1,000 participants, including more than 250 students from the Montreal campus and Campus Outaouais, as well as their families, friends and Osler fellows, gathered to celebrate this milestone.

Two ��VR��Ƶ medical students, Madeline Yaaka and Craig Sky, have been jointly recognized with the Elaine Kilabuk Award. This award honours the legacy of Elaine Kilabuk, MDCM, a Nunavut Inuk graduate of ��VR��Ƶ’s medical school, who has dedicated her career to advancing Northern and Indigenous health. The award is intended to support the training of Inuit or Indigenous medical students and to inspire future generations of physicians to serve their communities and beyond. Yaaka is the first Inuk recipient of the award, which was inaugurated in 2019.

Two sets of twins pursuing medical studies at ��VR��Ƶ are currently putting that hypothesis to the test.

Shreya and Megha Udupa are second-year students, while Mathew and Michael Petros are in their first year of medical studies.

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the Institute of Health Sciences Education (IHSE) hosted the Richard and Sylvia Cruess Symposium on Scholarship in Health Sciences Education.

Now in its second year, the event attracted 178 registrants, comprised of faculty members, scholars and learners from ��VR��Ƶ and beyond. Coinciding with IHSE’s 50th anniversary celebrations, it offered a space to present interdisciplinary research in health sciences education.

Terry Hébert, PhD, Assistant Dean, Biomedical Science Education, has been chosen for the David Thomson Award for Graduate Supervision and Teaching. Prof. Hébert, who is also Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics as well as Director of the ��VR��Ƶ Regenerative Medicine Network, was recognized by his students and peers for his outstanding contributions to promoting graduate student excellence as a supervisor and teacher over the years.
