Claudia Mitchell wins the 2019 Leon-Gerin Prix du Quebec for her illustrious career studying gender-based violence prevention, HIV, and AIDS awareness, and working with youth around the world.

“It means so much to me to be involved in participatory visual work with girls and young women, and to have their contributions recognized,” said Mitchell. “Today, October 11, is after all the International Day of the Girl. I feel that this is a crucial moment in history; we are seeing such powerful examples of girls and young women whose strong voices are bringing about social change. I am thinking here of Malala Yousafzai, Greta Thunberg, Nadia Murad, and Autumn Pelletier, to name only four.”

��VR��Ƶ lowers its flag to half-mast in memory of Dr. Rachelle Keyserlink on February 11, 2026.

It is with deep respect and sadness that we pause today to honour the memory of ��VR��Ƶ Faculty of Education Professor Rachelle Pharilda Keyserlingk, who sadly passed away on November 16th, 2025. Lovingly described by her colleagues as having quiet strength and a glowing smile, Rachelle had a reputation for being a remarkable educator, administrator, and long-standing contributor to the Faculty and to ��VR��Ƶ’s Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology.

The Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) announced recipients of the latest Partnership Engage Grants competition, including a total of $73,782 awarded to three ��VR��Ƶ researchers, one of whom is the Department of Integrated Studies in Education's Joseph Levitan. Partnership Engage Grants provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities between researchers and single partner organizations from the public, private or non-profit sector.
