Pittman Potter: the Bo Xilai case
The Asia-Pacific Law Association of 成人VR视频 is proud to bring you Dr. Pittman Potter, Canada's leading expert in Chinese law. His presentation will focus on what the recent Bo Xilai case represents for China and foreigners interested in operating in China. Dr. Potter will discuss corruption risk management, network management, and the challenges of establishing partnerships in China. Dr. Potter will provide clarity on what people need to know about doing business in China, in regards to protecting themselves legally, handling negotiations and government relations. About the speaker
Pitman Potter is a Professor of Law at UBC Law Faculty and HSBC Chair in Asian Research at UBC's Institute of Asian Research. Professor Potter's teaching and research are focused on PRC and Taiwan law and policy in the areas of foreign trade and investment, dispute resolution, intellectual property, contracts, business regulation, and human rights.
Professor Potter has served on numerous journal editorial boards. He has published several books, including most recently A Guide to Business Law in Asia (w/ Ljiljana Biukovic, Lexis/Nexis 2008), as well as numerous book chapters and articles for such journals as Law & Social Inquiry, The China Quarterly, and The International Journal.
In addition to his academic activities, Professor Potter is admitted to the practice of law in British Columbia, Washington and California, and serves as a consultant to the Canadian national law firm of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. As a Chartered Arbitrator, Professor Potter is engaged in international trade arbitration work involving China. He has served on the Board of Directors of several public institutions, Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, and the Canada China Business Council.
