Title: Animal Welfare Protection: Future Perspectives in International and Comparative Law
础产蝉迟谤补肠迟:听
The legal protection of animal welfare is progressing world-wide. National laws are strengthening and multiplying throughout the world; European instruments are being consolidated and externalized; international standards are developing; and finally, a universal declaration on animal welfare is being proposed to the United Nations General Assembly.
Although the protection granted to animals varies depending on the country and the normative level concerned, there is a common legal grounding that can be deduced from a comprehensive comparative study. Which universal basis can be identified for a binding protection in international law? Is it sufficient for a true improvement of the legal status of animals in the world? What realistic proposals can be made towards this objective? In addition to being explored in this presentation, these issues will be open to discussion among all interested participants.
