'Neurological Laboratories鈥 to Interdisciplinary 鈥楥entres of Brain Research鈥: Otfrid Foerster, Wilder Penfield, and Early Neuroscience in Breslau and Montreal
Under specific consideration of the theoretical approaches and practical research influences of 鈥渋nterdisciplinarity鈥 in neuroscientific research, this presentation addresses a time period and a subject of investigation that has only marginally been dealt with in the history of medicine and neurosciences: the influences and the context of the creation of early centres of neuroscientific research at the beginning of the 20th century.
Dr. Frank W. Stahnisch is a historian of medicine and neuroscience at the University of Calgary in聽Alberta, where he holds the endowed Alberta Medical Foundation/Hannah Professorship in the History of Medicine and Health Care. He is the holder of the Mary Louise Nickerson Fellowship in Neuro History.
