BAnQ invites the public to view the treasures of Raymond Klibansky’ personal library, bequeathed to ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. In addition to showcasing the wealth of its bibliophilic treasures, the exhibition Raymond Klibansky (1905-2005) – La bibliothèque d’un philosophe captures the essence of a thinker whose intellectual and humanist ideals left a significant mark on the 20th century. Raymond Klibansky entertained a passion for books and libraries. He believed in the vitality of ideas and that one should contribute to the democratic debate. His library exemplifies his convictions.

Raymond Klibansky settled in Montreal after the end of World War II. He was appointed a professor at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ as soon as 1946. He considered this city the homebase from which he could work to serve philosophical dialogue thought the world. From Montréal, he reached out as the ambassador of a universal culture of peace and tolerance. His work is a testament to the depth of his commitment.
