RSVP - Live Clue Game in the Library: A How To Workshop

Thursday, February 27, 2020 from 10:00 AM to noon

McLennan Library Building, 4th floor, Colgate Room

3459 rue McTavish, Montreal, QC, H3A 0C9, CA

Please mark your calendars for an important workshop in the development of ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ CLUE! Since 2012 University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill has developed a live, immersive, narrative-based game of Clue that is played twice a year to orient students to library resources and spaces. The program has grown from a low-stakes experiment to become a twice-a-year institution and part of the library’s known brand on campus. The game has a wait list every semester and almost universally converts players from being collections-phobic to being some of the library’s best word-of-mouth advocates. In this workshop, game developers, Emily Jack and Luke Aeschleman will advise ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Library staff about their ongoing process of adapting the game to serve ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ students for its official ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ launch on October 27th 2020. This workshop-style presentation will describe the program, share measures of its success, and enumerate research-based practical tips for developing game-based orientations appropriate for other settings.
