They asked the same question specifically about the set o f fields where C acquires new points and gave evidence for a positive answ er for curves of genus 0. In this talk we will present upcoming work with Zev Klagsbrun where we provide a positive answer for a generic pair of ell iptic curves with full 2-torsion over a number field. The method of proof uses the combination of additive combinatorics and descent introduced in j oint work of the speaker and Koymans in 2024. I will overview several othe r recent results obtained\, by a number of authors\, with that method.\n\n  \n\nThe André Aisenstadt Prize\, which recognizes outstanding research ac hievements in pure or applied mathematics by a young Canadian mathematicia n\, is awarded this year to Carlo Pagano (Concordia University). His remar kable contributions continue the tradition of excellence that this prize h as celebrated since its inception.\n\nCarlo Pagano was born in Italy. He r eceived his PhD in 2018 from Leiden University in the Netherlands\, under the supervision of Hendrik Lenstra. After postdoctoral positions at the Ma x Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn and at the University of Glasgo w\, he joined the department of Mathematics and Statistics at Concordia Un iversity in August 2022.\n\nCarlo Pagano of Concordia University\, along w ith co-author Peter Koymans of Utrecht University\, has proved several out standing conjectures in algebraic number theory using a variety of tools f rom different areas.\n\nLocation: CRM Pavillon André-Aisenstadt\, 6th floo r\, room 6214\n DTSTART:20260116T203000Z DTEND:20260116T213000Z SUMMARY:2025 André Aisenstadt Prize lecture – Carlo Pagano URL:/mathstat/channels/event/2025-andre-aisenstadt-pri ze-lecture-carlo-pagano-370229 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
