Coarse i nvariants such as the number of ends\, hyperbolicity\, and growth have pow erful consequences\, most famously Stallings’ theorem\, which detects spli ttings of groups from their ends\, and the cubulating groups via actions o n CAT(0) cube complexes. A natural generalization of Cayley graphs is give n by transitive graphs\, i.e. graphs whose automorphism group acts transit ively on vertices. Many coarse-geometric notions (ends\, hyperbolicity\, g rowth) extend naturally to this broader setting\, but transferring group-t heoretic structure theorems to transitive graphs requires new tools.\n\nIn this talk I introduce methods from structural graph theory\, especially t ree decompositions and median decompositions and explain how they provide a framework for extending key results from geometric group theory to trans itive graphs. In particular\, I discuss analogues of Stallings-type splitt ing phenomena and connections to cubulations via median structures.\n\nWe will gather in the lounge for teatime after the talk\, and then we will go for dinner with Bobby.\n\n \n DTSTART:20260211T210000Z DTEND:20260211T220000Z LOCATION:Room 1104\, Burnside Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 0B9\, 805 rue Sherbrooke Ouest SUMMARY:Bobby Miraftab (Carleton University) URL:/mathstat/channels/event/bobby-miraftab-carleton-u niversity-371167 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
