Jazz vocalist Ranee Lee appointed Assistant Professor at Schulich, wins CALQ award

The Schulich School of Music is proud to announce that renowned jazz vocalist Ranee Lee will join its Performance Department in a new role as Assistant Professor in the Jazz Area. Her appointment begins on August 1, 2023.

The announcement of Lee鈥檚 new position coincides with a second special honour. On May 29, the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Qu茅bec (CALQ) named her in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the development and excellence of Quebec arts and literature.听

奥别鈥檙别 absolutely delighted to have Ranee Lee take on this new role in our Jazz Area and congratulate her on being named Compagne des arts et des lettres du Qu茅bec, said Sean Ferguson, dean of the Schulich School of Music.

Ranee Lee is more than just a world-class musician; she's an inspiring teacher,鈥 said 搁茅尘颈 Bolduc, Associate Professor and Jazz Area Coordinator at Schulich. 鈥淗er dedication to her students and her passion for going above and beyond the standard lesson plan are truly admirable. I am thrilled that she will be joining the jazz faculty at 成人VR视频.鈥

Ms. Lee has been involved with Schulich as a part-time vocal instructor since 1987 and played a central role in the development of the 厂肠丑辞辞濒鈥檚 jazz program. She has been a fixture in the Montreal jazz scene for longer than that, winning awards as both a musician and educator. She was named a member of the Order of Canada in 2006 and received the Oscar Peterson Award from the Festival International de Jazz de Montr茅al in 2022.
