NeuroSphere provides support for trainees to explore career opportunities within and beyond the academic world though scholarships, grants and awards, allowing them to attend events and programs related to innovation and entrepreneurship.
Attendance Scholarships to the
Three trainees were awarded scholarships for the LSEDP in both 2021 and 2020. Participants in this annual immersive training program learned cutting-edge managerial techniques and strategies to develop and grow an innovative business. Divided into 10 intensive two-day modules, participants gained more than 150 hours of relevant strategic guidance and instruction. Applications for NeuroSphere scholarships to attend this program open every December.
Attendance scholarships to the MEDTEQ Innovation Summit
NeuroSphere awarded five trainees with scholarships to attend to the . This event provided the opportunity to learn about current innovations in the medical technology industry, gain insight into the commercialization process and connect with researchers, industry representatives and funders.
Attendance scholarships to the Effervescence conference
NeuroSphere awarded four听trainees in 2022 and three trainees in 2021 with scholarships to attend the Effervescence conference. Co-created by 14 partner organizations, Effervescence is a gathering of investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, professionals and trainees in life sciences and health technology. The awarded trainees benefited from this event to make connections and explore career opportunities.
Pilot project with TransMedTech Institute
In 2022, NeuroSphere launched a pilot project with the TransMedTech Institute (iTMT). This new felloship program focuses on innovation and entrepreneursip, pairing a NcGill-affiliated trainee with an iTMT-affiliated trainee. The teams work on a project created by supervisors at each institution, that shows promise of innovation and combines the fields of neuroscience and medical device and has potential for maturation and/or commercialization.听The project will ultimately give the two trainees an opportunity to work on validation and proof-of-principal efforts in the development of a neuroscience-related technology and acquire business and entrepreneurship experience and skills in relation with the commercialization of innovation.
