³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ is introducing a new web information system named Minerva to serve students, staff and faculty. Beginning in May 2002, students will register using Minerva for the Fall 2002 and Winter 2003 terms.

³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ will be phasing out MARS and SATURN over the course of 2002. MARS remains open this spring as the only way to register for the Summer 2002 session. SATURN will continue to be available until August 2002 for access to academic records up to and including 2001-2002.

Features of Minerva for students:

• Web access to registration, class schedule and course descriptions
• One-stop shopping for registration and address changes, and eventually, fees assessment and unofficial transcripts
• Personal class schedule
• Up-to-date information on remaining space in course sections
• Available 24 hours, 7 days a week

April 2, 2002		Minerva Registration opens for Music students - Pilot Group only
April 29, 2002		Minerva Registration opens for undergraduate students entering their graduating year, and for all graduate students, except for Continuing Education
May 7, 2002		Minerva Registration opens for undergraduate students entering their penultimate year, except for Continuing Education
May 14, 2002		Minerva Registration opens for all returning students, except Continuing Education
Summer, 2002		Minerva Registration opens for Continuing Education students
Summer, 2002		Minerva access to fees assessment and unofficial transcripts

³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ’s investment in a new administrative information system Minerva is the web front-end to the Banner project – a complete overhaul of ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ’s administrative information systems, including ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ, Student Records, Human Resources and Finance. This project implements new technology that supports one-stop shopping on the web for staff, faculty and students and takes us from the mainframe system to relational databases and client/server architecture.

First announced in Spring 1998, the Banner implementation project has been the most important information technology project undertaken by ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ in the last twenty-five years. For this effort, ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ has partnered with SCT, a vendor that supports more than 1100 higher education institutions around the world.
