Dr. Aisling O'Gorman, Faculty Lecturer, Northern and Native Health Program

I completed medical school at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ and my residency in General Pediatrics at UBC. I subsequently worked as a Clinical Associate on the Oncology / BMT ward at BC Children’s Hospital for 2 years.

I was thrilled to get my ‘derogation’ 2 years ago which allowed me to follow my aspirations and work with the Northern and Native Child Health Program. Since the fall of 2016, I have been covering pediatric services for 3 Cree communities in James Bay and providing associated care for Cree patients while in Montreal. My other activities at the Children’s include attending in the Medical Day Hospital and various out-patient clinics. I especially look forward to further contributing to medical education. I’m delighted to be part of such a dynamic team!

When I'm not in the Taiga, you can find me on the downhill slopes or cross-county skiing on Mont Royal. I also enjoy theatre, film, cooking and undertaking various creative projects.

Dr. Julie Nadeau-Lessard, Faculty Lecturer, Northern and Native Health Program

I grew up in Gatineau and was interested in pediatrics from a very young age. I did medical school and residency at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. Throughout my medical training, I was involved with vulnerable populations. Amongst other things, I volunteered with Medecins du Monde’s Montreal Initiative, participating in health clinics that helped bridge the gap between disenfranchised patients and the health care system, I also participated in the multicultural clinic. I became interested in northern medicine after having had the chance to travel to Nunavik with Dr. Morel in my last year of residency. In the past year, I was at CHEO in Ottawa, completing a fellowship in Academic general pediatrics. When I am not at work, I enjoy all outdoor activities, especially cross-country skiing, traveling, reading and I just recently started sewing.

I am very excited to be starting this new position with the Northern Medicine Program. I am covering the cree communities of Waskaganish, Ouje, Waswanipi and Nemaska. I am looking forward to working with all of you.

Dr. Samuel Freeman, Faculty Lecturer, Northern and Native Medicine Program

I have been working as a consultant pediatrician on the Hudson Coast of Nunavik and for the Northern and Native Child Health Program at the Children's since July 2018. I also attend in the newborn nursery at the Vic and in the medical day hospital. I still maintain a small general pediatric practice at TCC, where I started working in 2017 after completing my pediatric residency (including a year as Chief) at the Children's. When I'm not engaged in clinical work, I try to do some writing, and have published op-eds on a range of topics. My educational background includes an MD from Université de Montréal and a BA in economics from Yale University. I have wide-ranging extra-curricular interests, but some highlights are cooking, cycling, and crossword puzzles.

I'm thrilled to be working in the North and to be a part of the greater Children's team!
