Dr. Julia von Oettingen is a Pediatric Endocrinologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, Assistant Professor at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ, and a Fonds de Recherche du Québec Santé supported Clinician-Scientist at the Research Institute of the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Health Centre. Dr. von Oettingen completed her MD-PhD at Leipzig University, a Master’s in Clinical and Translational Investigation at Harvard University, and an Endocrine Fellowship at the Boston Children’s Hospital. She chose the Department of Pediatrics because it allows her to combine her passion for children, clinical care, research and global health. Dr. von Oettingen’s research program focuses on global health in pediatric endocrinology and diabetes, including disparities in access to care, social determinants, care delivery innovation in low-resource settings, and subspecialty training in pediatric endocrinology in Haiti and sub-Saharan Africa. She is a part of the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Artificial Pancreas Lab and has evaluated inequities in technology uptake among patients with type 1 diabetes. She co-leads the Canadian Pediatric Diabetes Consortium (CAPACIty) network and the development of a national pediatric diabetes registry. Dr. von Oettingen serves on the steering committee of the Life for a Child program, the executive committee of Global Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes, and is a past member of the advisory council of the International Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes.
