Physiology Seminar: YES tyrosine kinase as an oncogenic driver of liver cancer

Friday, April 28, 2023 11:00to12:00
McIntyre Medical Building Room 1034, 3655 promenade Sir William Osler, Montreal, QC, H3G 1Y6, CA

The Meloche laboratory studies the signalling mechanisms that control cell division, differentiation and survival of normal and cancer cells. The research aims to identify novel targets for the development of innovative mechanism-based cancer therapies. Current research efforts are focused on the characterization of the regulatory mechanisms, signaling network and pathophysiological functions of atypical MAP kinases and SRC-family kinases, which are essential regulators of cell proliferation. His laboratory has generated several genetically-modified mouse models to study the physiological role of these enzymes and their involvement in cancer and human diseases. They are also using chemical biology and genetic approaches to identify novel oncogenic signalling pathways involved in cancer progression. This work has led to the identification of the SRC-family kinase YES as a new target for liver cancer and other solid cancers. The Meloche laboratory is actively involved in drug discovery projects aimed at developing novel small molecule inhibitors of SRC-family kinases and ERK3/4 MAP kinases.

This seminar will take place in-person and online (details in attached poster below)
