Named after a prominent Chairman of the Department of Chemistry who was active in research during World War II, the Otto Maass Chemistry Building was built between 1964 and 1966.Ìý
It was the last of the campus projects completed by the firm of Fleming and Smith, which was also responsible for theÌýPhysical Sciences CentreÌý(now the Frank Dawson Adams Building) and theÌýMcConnell Engineering Building.ÌýThe Department of Chemistry offers a state-of-the-art research environment with brand new teaching and research laboratories. $37M of renovations, completed in 2012,Ìý were made possible through funding from the Governments of Canada and Quebec, and ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. Research and teachingÌý are now performed in large and bright environments, with glass separated office spaces and state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure.Ìý
Teaching laboratories feature a unique design that optimize students’ ability to work in a collaborative manner with research quality laboratory infrastructure and instrumentation.Ìý
Project Description:
This project aims to modify room 025 located in the Maass Chemistry Building. This room will be divided into 3 rooms: 25A, 25B, 25C.Ìý
Project Scope :
Architecture: The walls for room 25A and 25B need to be two-layer sound proof gypsum boards and the walls for room 25C need to be quadruple-layer sound-proofed gypsum boards.
