Nominate someone for appointment to the Order of Canada

Published: 10 January 2023

The Order of Canada is one of the country's highest civilian honors, recognizing outstanding achievement, dedication to the community, and service to the nation. More than 7,000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order since its inception in 1967. ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ has over 80 recipients of the Order of Canada. Their appointments have helped to define the national and international reputation of ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ.

If you know a ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵian who you believe deserves to be recognized in this way, you can nominate them for the Order of Canada. Anyone can make a nomination, and there is no deadline for submissions. Any living Canadian is eligible for appointment to the Order. Non-Canadians who have made an extraordinary contribution to Canadian life are also admissible. An existing member of the Order can also be nominated for promotion to a higher level within the Order. We encourage you to nominate meritorious individuals from your Faculty whose contributions have helped to make Canada the great country that it is.

Appointments are made for sustained achievement at three levels: Member, which recognizes outstanding contributions to a particular community, region or field of activity; Officer, which recognizes achievement and merit of a high degree, especially in service to a province or our country; and, Companion, which recognizes outstanding achievement and merit of the highest degree, especially in service to Canada or humanity at large.
