In Photos: The SBMS celebrates research excellence with ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ's iGEM team

On December 9th, 2022, the School of Biomedical Sciences hosted a luncheon to celebrate the accomplishments of the ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ iGEM team, a group of undergraduate students, doing interdisciplinary research, whoÌýplaced in the top ten in the 2022 edition of the iGEM world-wide competition.

iGEM is an annual event where teams of students from around the world compete by bringing a synthetic biology project from concept to results. This year's iGEM team at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ placed in the top ten at the annual competition in Paris for their project "CoBiota." The team’s research focused on investigating a proactive probiotic to lower cholesterol, which could result in the prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD).
