Biography:

Claude Bhérer, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Genetics, School of Biomedical Sciences, at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ. She also leads a population genomics research group within a mission-oriented multidisciplinary Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) program covering all facets of genomic medicine (). Before that, she was a FRQS postdoctoral fellow at the New York Genome Centre and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and received her PhD from Université de Montréal. Prof. Bhérer’s research in the field of human population genetics addresses questions of broad interest in evolutionary biology, genomic medicine, and biomedical sciences. Her expertise spans population scale computational analysis, data collection to methods development. Her work focuses on understanding how evolutionary history shape natural genetic variation in diverse human populations, and how to apply this knowledge to support the discovery and development of genetically-driven therapeutics.
