Congratulations to Maddison Arlen, a PhD candidate in Dr. Carolyn Baglole's laboratory, whose article “Cannabis vaping elicits transcriptomic and metabolomic changes involved in inflammatory, oxidative stress, and cancer pathways in human bronchial epithelial cells,” published in the American Journal of Physiology–Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology, has been selected as the Best Research Article by the American Physiological Society, with the award to be presented at the 2026 American Physiology Summit (April 23–26, Minneapolis, MN).

Hannah Derue is a PhD candidate in neuroscience in Dr. Ribeiro-da-Silva’s lab at the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics. She recently founded a research and development startup called PAin+ — an interdisciplinary venture that combines artificial intelligence and visual art to help individuals communicate about and manage chronic pain in novel ways.
