Join guide-in-training, Jacky Farrell (³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ Science Outreach), for a Shinrin Yoku (Forest Bathing) walk on Mount Royal. Forest Bathing helps us slow down, open our senses and follow our curiosities. What a great way to take a nourishing break, recharge and celebrate the beginning of spring!. This activity is part of ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ's Biodiversity Plan 2030.

This session is being offered free of chargeÌý(a value of $30/person) to students by Science Outreach at ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ and space is limited to 10 max. Sign up with a friend!

.ÌýSpace is limited so please register early. In registering for this event, you are committing to attending.ÌýIn case you are unable to attend, you must advise us via email. No-shows significantly impact the guide, the activities we are able to do as a group, and students on the wait list.ÌýÌý


Details:

  • Meet on the front steps of the Education Building (3700 McTavish St.)ÌýatÌý9:50 amÌýto check in. We’ll be leaving at 10:00 sharp.
  • There will be no bathrooms on the walk so please plan ahead. There are bathrooms available in ³ÉÈËVRÊÓƵ's Education Building at the start of the walk.
  • Bring a water bottle filled with water, walking poles and crampons if needed (please check the Trail conditions on the Mount Royal site), hand/toe warmers if needed and a small waterproof mat or folding tripod stool if you have one so that you can sit at different moments. We will also have small mats to share with you if needed.Ìý
  • Dress warmly for the weather and in layers, as we'll be moving slowly and exploring the snow: weÌý strongly recommend warm pants, warm sweater layered over a warm shirt, tuque, wool socks, warm mittens and warm, waterproof boots for walking in mud, puddles and possibly ice – uphill and downhill.ÌýSee the trail conditions on the Mount Royal website: for your safety, crampons are strongly recommended if it's icy.

    For everyone's safety, this walk will be postponed in the case of extreme cold, freezing rain or heavy snow/rain.
