 p on representation and visualization of human information in urban enviro
 nments.聽\n	聽\n	DESCRIPTION\n	This workshop explores ways to make meaningful聽r
 epresentations of qualitative or more nuanced quantitative data\, like qua
 lity聽of life measures\, in聽GIS. Such representations could help urban desi
 gners and聽planners make better decisions about how to intervene in modalit
 ies where they聽do not聽have suitable knowledge or expertise.\n	聽\n	The worksh
 op will include a case study on聽soundscape\, which is the idea that sound 
 can be used as a resource rather than聽uniformly considered as聽noise. For e
 xample\, how could I show that a particular聽urban location is generally co
 nsidered as having a good soundscape for outdoor聽dining\, and聽could even b
 e improved by encouraging bird sounds or reducing聽traffic noise? Such a re
 presentation has to account for more complex contextual聽issues\, like time
